Overview

The objective of this subject is to provide participants with an appreciation of and the capacity to deal with strategic issues arising in governance, ethical, legal and social matters confronting business operations.

Course Content

The topics to be covered in this subject include:

            Ethics and ethical decision-making

*       Governance structures and processes

*       Legal frameworks and business compliance

*       Critical legal and administrative performance

*       Board, director and executive leadership

*       Corporate citizenship

*       Governance challenges in globalisation

*       Business ownership regulations and contracts (the legal context including the duties of company directors and managers)

*       The element of effective governance structures (such as board performance, board – CEO relationships, audit committees risk management, communications)

*       Effective processes for corporate conformance

*       Indicators for managing corporate performance

*       The pursuit of profit and ethics as supportive and/or conflicting goals

*       Systematic frameworks for ethical decision-making

*       Responsibilities of government and business in the multi-national corporate context

*       The reflection of good corporate citizenship in a company’s goals, plans and performance
